Agatized coral is a fossilized coral that has been replaced by agate, a form of chalcedony quartz, over millions of years through a process called silicification. The original coral's structure is preserved, but the material is now quartz. It is a rare and beautiful stone with unique patterns, and in some cases, can contain crystal-filled cavities.
